CATCARD

Students design and build a stylish cardboard cat home that balances comfort, ventilation, and structural function with artistic flair—perfect for aspiring designers and animal lovers alike.

In this creative, hands-on project, students work in teams to design and build a custom cat home using cardboard and craft materials. The challenge is to balance practical needs—such as size, accessibility, airflow, and comfort—with visual appeal, turning their creation into a stylish space that any cat would love to curl up in.

Students begin by researching cat behavior and environmental needs, then collaborate to sketch and prototype their designs. They explore structure, stability, and space planning principles, learning how to work with lightweight materials while maximizing strength and comfort. Once the base structure is built, students focus on aesthetic design, incorporating color, texture, and theme to give their cat house personality.

This project encourages collaboration, spatial reasoning, and design thinking, all while bringing creativity and compassion together. Whether modern, whimsical, or nature-inspired, each team’s final product is a functional and artistic expression of thoughtful, pet-friendly architecture.
