Marscape

Students design and build a scaled model of a Mars colony using a landscape kit and 3D-printed components. They explore survival systems, UAE space ambitions, and future challenges of living on the Red Planet.

In this extraordinary STEAM experience, students become planetary pioneers by designing and building a scaled Mars colony, addressing the critical challenges that humanity may one day face in colonizing the Red Planet. Their journey begins with thought-provoking questions exploring Martian conditions such as extreme cold, low gravity, thin atmosphere, and the absence of liquid water. Students analyze essential systems for survival—solar energy, life support, water recycling, shelter construction, and atmospheric control.

Using ProjoTech’s special kit (ColonyX), students bring their design to life with a Martian land plate, transparent domes for habitats and agriculture, and other key components. They enhance their colony with 3D-printable models of infrastructure like greenhouses, rovers, and oxygen tanks.

Students will also learn about the UAE’s space vision, connecting their work to bold national goals in Mars exploration. This project combines engineering, environmental science, astronomy, and creativity, igniting student curiosity and preparing them to dream—boldly and beyond Earth.
