AutoSan

Students work in teams to create an effective hand sanitizer and build a 3D-printed automatic dispenser with a touchless sensor, a visual tank, and a rechargeable battery.

In this integrated STEAM and health technology project, students explore chemistry and engineering as they design a complete automatic hand sanitizing system. The project begins with researching the chemical composition of effective hand sanitizers, including the importance of alcohol concentration, additives, and skin safety. Teams then shift to product development, designing a touchless automatic dispenser that activates via infrared or ultrasonic sensors.

The dispenser includes a transparent visual tank for monitoring sanitizer levels and is powered by a rechargeable battery system to promote sustainability. After completing the digital design, students 3D print the dispenser body, assemble the internal electronics supplied in ProjoTech’s special kit (Sanitron), and connect all components for a functional, user-friendly product.

This project blends health awareness, digital design, electronics, and product engineering, encouraging students to think critically about hygiene, safety, and user-centered innovation. It’s a real-world problem-solving experience that prepares students to develop smart, responsive technologies for everyday use.
